How to Come Up with a Plan in the Chess Endgame
Dear Chess Friends!
I've just started my series of group classes "Improve Your Endgame Technique" and I decided to share a fragment of that group class with you. At the lesson we were covering essential endgame principles:
- Activating your king in the endgame
- Centralizing pieces: King and Rook placement
- Recognizing critical squares and key pawns
The first two are pretty simple, but what about critical squares and key pawns. Recognizing it allows you to come up with a proper plan. How? I explained it in this short video:
I've also included a PGN file to illustrate this example.
This is just one small taste of the larger course. Over the span of 12 structured lessons, we’re building a complete understanding of real-world endgame play — from theoretical draws to winning techniques in practical positions.
Missed the first class? Don’t worry.
You can still join us — and get full access to the recording, PGNs, and training material from all sessions.
Whether you're struggling to convert small advantages or don’t know what to do when the queens are off the board — this course is designed for you.
See you at the next lesson!
