The Future of Micronations and Chess r/micronations

Micronationslim is a topic often debated and criticized; however, many new and old micronationists are trying to find ways to win glory for their nation. So what do they do? They host matches against other nations and people on this site. Most of the time, when they state "we are hosting a chess tournament," it turns into karma farming, and when it's supposed to begin, it ceases to exist. So, the idea comes to mind: will there ever be a micronational-related chess tournament?

The concept is straightforward yet appears to be hard to actually make happen. In October-November 2025, Concordia tried to host a tournament, and about a dozen or so nations "joined". But unlike most tournaments, they just got canceled. This specific one had a series played. That one series, United Land vs Haajook.  Where the U.L was defeated 5-0. This was a kindle, this was a spark, for the first time ever, a tournament actually started. Sure, it only had that one series, but for 1 time it had a game.  Even after nations were setting up chess accounts in hopes that other nations would offer a match, it never happened.

At least the "fairy tale" that would become of micronational chess was over, or so we thought. United Land (yes, this is our official nation's chess.com profile), even after the games were over, still hosted games against other people, not even micronationists. And then something clicked. What if we were to have games against nations willing to play separately, so people could play at their own time? It worked.

Right before the closing of the great year 2025 did United Land hosted a best-of-2 wins series against our close ally Auralis. The matches were historical, the intensity was on, but at last the U.L defeated Auralis 2-1. Both nations showed their genius, and both nations kindled something; they rekindled the spark of micronational chess. And this is where we are today, as of right now, United Land's next series is supposed to be with Nuggetland, but until then, I call all micronations to win glory (even in the form of a board game) for their country on chess.com.

May the Republic Flourish Under God's Will!
