Training Diary of a Serious Non-improver
Indeed inspired by the Swedish Championship now being played in My hometown I will start to write a Training Diary. It is time for some focused but humble attempts to learn something about this game.
If I had 5 elo points for every chess book on on My bookshelves or 250 points for every book read carefully My rating would be around 2500. Apperently it does not work like that.
If I had wasted fewer years playing weird gambits (and buying books) I might have had a little more practical playing strength but perhaps an even more modest Tactics Rating.
My main tools will be three books by Cyrus Lakdawala:
Becoming an IM
Tactical Training in the Endgame
Rewire Your Chess Brain: Endgame studies and mating problems to enhance your tactical ability
And of course all the great tools at chess.com.
One of Cyrus fine nuggets of advice is to play openings thet fit your personality. I think I need to bit the bullet and start to play some stodgy stuff. I did some "Chess Personality Test" and I think the result was fairly accurate but the Super GM indicated as My Role Model apperantly do not play the openings being suggested by the test.

And no. I do not believe I will be an IM. My goal is improvement.
