How to climb the rating ladder
In my experience, there are a few different ways to climb the rating ladder.
1. Stop playing silly openings. While you may be able to get away with this as a lower rated player you will get absolutely crushed by good players. I recommend playing solid and fool-proof openings that are very theoretical like the Queens pawn opening. This opening leads to solid, and positional play such as the Catalan, Queens gambit, and the London openings. Here is a link to them.

2. The second to climb the rating ladder is to watch top players play. Look for a player that has a similar playing style to your self and try to mimic that. See what they do that you don't then try to implement this new knowledge in your games.
3.Do puzzles and lessons on chess.com. Puzzles are a great way to recognize patterns you need to know. Lessons help you better understand different concepts. A combination of at least 10 to 20 chess puzzles a day in addition to 3 or 4 lessons will help you climb the rating ladder faster.
I hope my suggestions will help you in your journey of chess.
