I FINALLY beat Nelson
So, I've finally beaten Nelson( ̶a̶f̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶5̶0̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶o̶k̶). He was really annoying at the beginning, but after we traded queens it was much easier to develop and not play defensively (I like to attack). I think the most important move of the game was when I traded rooks because at that point I thought that his rook is a very powerful piece and could help the king in the endgame.
Even though his pawns were further in the board than mine. I promoted my pawn faster than he did. This is because he was more focused on killing my h-pawn and not my c-pawn, which was a big mistake. After he killed my h-pawn, I premoved the absolute crap out of my c-pawn he tried catching up. Miraculously, he came on the same diagonal as my c-pawn and when I promoted to a queen, I checked him as well, doing 2 things in 1 move and making Nelson's king waste a move as he had nothing to block with.
Then after that, I used my queen and king to check him and take his pawns. This is how it worked. My queen checked the king protecting the pawn, he moved away from that pawn(to escape check) and my king, who was already on the square next to the pawn, took the pawn.
I did this quite a few times and now all he had left was a king.
This part of the game was very tensed as I feared stalemate, which happened to me while playing Nelson before, so I had to calculate every move to not stalemate Nelson. Soon he went to the 1st rank and I moved my queen to the 3rd rank, cutting him off the 3rd rank and aiming to some weird mate with my king and queen (those were my only pieces). Soon my king reaches the 3rd rank and follows the king until he reaches the square h1, where he can't move anymore cuz of my king who was on f3. My queen advanced one rank up to the 2nd rank, cutting him off that rank too now. He moved to g1, I moved to a1 with my queen, forcing h2, I moved my queen to b2, forcing another move. He goes to h1 again, and I deliver mate with queen to g2, which is the position of the first photo of this post.
I don't have anything else to say except I hope this inspires you all to beat Nelson because he is very aggressive, buuuuuut if you manage to get through the opening and trade queens, it gets waaaaay easier to play and mating him is less of a problem after that.
