How to recognize a cheater?
Probably the biggest snag in online chess is the cheaters.
People use chess software (Stockfish, Komodo, Houdini ...) to win the game.
Many chess sites struggle with these methods of ranking.
However, not only sites can fight cheaters. You can be on the alert too
1. Look at the time
If the opponent thinks for a long time about moves that do not need a long calculation of options (for example, capturing the queen), this is a sign of an inexperienced cheater. Of course, it is not necessary to immediately "report" to your opponent (well, you never know, maybe something has hung up), but still, this is the first indicator.
2. Analyze the game after the game
Has it ever happened to you that your opponent smashed you to smithereens? Well, after all, the game needs to be analyzed. If an opponent, for example, with a rating of 600> played with an accuracy of 99.3, I think you yourself understood that either a cheater or a grandmaster making fun of everyone is sitting on the other side of the screen (although the grandmaster does not play with such accuracy). Of course, there could be a mistake, but if the opponent played in the first line, of course, there is no doubt.
3. Look at the opponent's statistics and his archive of games
The third indicator of a cheater is his archive of games and statistics. If earlier he played with a rating of ~ 800 rating points, and then the scale of his rating increased sharply, say, up to 1400 points, do you think this is just a sharp insight on how to play chess without mistakes, or simply a "chess player" plays with the help of some kind of Stockfish ? Well, no, it may not be a cheater yet, but let's take a look at his game archive. If, for example, he won the last ten rapid games with 90> accuracy, well, most likely it's just a cheater. You can report, but I warn you; not the fact that this is a cheater.
There may be exceptions everywhere, but still, the probability of our "investigation" = 99%.
I hope this information helped you!
