Earlier today former world chess champion Magnus Carlsen beat the 7th highest ranked chess player in the world Dommaraju Gukesh in the FIDE world cup quarter finals. Even with Magnus playing as black, he still managed to end the game in 49 moves. Now in order to stay in the Cup, Gukesh must win his game on Wednesday or else Magnus will go to the semifinals. While Gukesh play great in the opening and middle game Carlsen, as always showed his skill in the endgame and was able to win.
Thru-out the whole game Magnus and Gukesh were evenly tied untill Gukesh made the move Ra2 this gave Carlsen just enough advantage to win the game. Even though Magnus has taken a liking to Gukesh he admitted after the game, “I felt really good ahead of the game. I was in a fighting mood for sure.”. Even after the game Magnus and Gukesh were discussing there moves, further showing the mutual respect they have for one another.
