The mate of the corridor is one of the most impressive mates after the mate of the fool (see my article on this mate). After castling, the king is not always safe. Indeed, this example shows us that after castling, the king is safe because he is protected by the tower at f8. But it is also blocked by its own pieces.
Here is why it is important to free space h7 by advancing the pawn to h6.
The danger of the castling (without h6)
The castling is also dangerous without h6. It suffices for a rook or a queen to be placed on column h and the king is mate.
So, always leave a space free and have a good game!
