Who is the champ

Who is the true champ of chess? Bobby fisher never lost his title via a game he just didnt face anatoly karpov. Anatoly karpov regained his title when Gary kasparov formed his own association. Then his organization dibanded and Gary was deatfeated. Anatoly was also defeated. Please comment and tell me who you think is champ.. By the way I think that there is no true champion currently anyway because of the confusion.
