City of Whittier Blitz Chess Championship
CITY OF WHITTIER BLITZ CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
Watch some the state’s best players finish the SCCF State Championship -- then have a chance to play some of them!
Please note: this event may overlap with the last round of the Pacific Southwest Open in Irvine.
Date and time: Sunday, July 9th, 2017 @ 8pm.
Location: Whittier High School LIBRARY -- note change of building (the event will not be held in the auditorium as previously advertised), 6739 Whittier Avenue, Whittier CA 90601.
Format: 4 double rounds (8 games total), Swiss pairing system.
Time control: G/3’ +2” increment (not delay).
Eligibility: all players must be current members of US Chess (click here to join).
Entry fees: $0 for players already participating in the SCCF Championship; all others $20 through Friday 7/7, $30 on Saturday 7/8, $40 onsite Sunday 7/9.
Byes: maximum one double half-point bye (2 x 0.5 points = 1 point total), any round except Round 4; request must be made before pairings for that round.
We will use the highest current USCF rating (whether it is regular, quick or blitz) for pairing purposes.
Cash prizes ($250 total, 100% guaranteed): 1st = $100, 2nd = $70, 3rd = $50, 4th = $30.
Non-cash prize: highest-placing Whittier *resident earns ‘City of Whittier Blitz Chess Champion’ title.
