Abasov's resistance in this tournament has earned hime the respect of many others. On Tuesday he played against the prodigy from India, Gukesh. In the middle game Gukesh missed many winning chances while being put in time trouble. Frantically thinking Gukesh played the inaccuracy 38.Rxe4. After that move he saw his lead dwindle. Abasov held the draw until the endgame where he played 82.Kh5. Gukesh again down on time missed the winning move. Then on the exact next move Abasov played 83.Qf1+ officially blundering what was a drawn game into the hands of Gukesh.

Hikaru came into his game with Alireza with the determination to win. Both players were dead last and a win would mean big hopes for both players. The game had some complications but the eval bar stayed mainly equal. However in the same situation Gukesh faced Alireza had time trouble. However unlike Gukesh who had the lead then made it to a drawn position(He won), Alireza made the losing move 62.Kxd3. This move gave Hikaru the victory.

The other 2 games ended early with draws.

There is still 9 more rounds to see in Toronto. That being said there will be a photo for the standings this time
