Introducing: the Phoenix Chess League
Dear readers, this post is aimed at club owners and admins possibly interested in joining a league.
@WangSandy and myself are proud to present the Phoenix Chess League (PCL), a new league created in June 2024 which intends to bring events between clubs in multiple formats. There's already a few competitions open for registration:
- PCL Thematic Openings (with Open and U1400 sections): a 3 days per move, 7 rounds round-robin competition with a different fixed opening position at each round with groups of max. 8 teams (currently enough teams to have two groups per section are registered). Registration for season 1 closes on July 11th.
- PCL Slow Chess: a 7 days per move, 7 rounds round-robin competition (currently 8 teams registered). Registration for season 1 closes on July 18th.
- PCL Fast Vote Chess: a vote chess competition at 1 day per move, 2 concurrent games, 4 rounds round-robin in groups of up to 9 teams. Registration date is tentatively August 8th, depending on registration of teams.
The league will warm up with those three events, and more competitions will be created once it grows. We intend to propose formats which are not often found at league level for teams of all sizes and strength.
Join the league and play!
