GM Maurice Ashley Visits Houston

The Chess Academy (TCA Knights) held a scholastic tournament today in Houston, TX. The venue was SpindleTap Brewery, whose picnic tables and industrial rooms provided for a great playing space. 

The event started off with an address from Mayor Sylvester Turner officially proclaiming January 26, 2019 as Maurice Ashley Day in Houston. He presented the certificate directly to GM Maurice Ashley. Eventually, the tournament began and the kids played chess. GM Ashley mingled in the skittles room and played a few games, giving 3-1 time odds (two games below). I played a few games myself (not with GM Ashley) but did not stay for the entire event. There may have been a simul, but I'm not sure.
