The beauty of this pattern is its flexibility, it can win with a variety of variations.  Many Checkmate patterns either attack f7 or h7.  Greco's Mate reaches Checkmate by putting pressure on both f7 and h7 simultaneously! 

The ingredients are a Queen attacking both squares, a Knight attacking both squares, and a Bishop aimed at f7:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I will set up a common diagram found to demonstrate this mate in action and then show you the variety of attacks.

 

The number of possibilities is what makes this Mate pattern so strong.  Will your opponent be able to calculate them all?  Defend one but lose to another!
