Two Hours Study
I'm working on the Queen's Indian Defense. First, my work was aimed at learning some ideas for playing the White side (see "Home Preparation"). But, I'm also looking to develop the QID as part of my Black repertoire.
The past few days, I've been looking at miniatures in the Petrosian system. This afternoon, I pulled Garry Kasparov, My Great Predecessors, Part III (2004) from the shelf. Found a game in the Petrosian system in which Petrosian had White, located the game in my database, and spent an hour going through the game. On my third pass through the game, I employed PowerBook 2016 to locate reference games.
Then, after studying the game for an hour in this manner, I reopened Kasparov's book and read through most of his annotations. Now the game in my database has an excess of notes.
