1000 Blitz

The Journey to 1000: A Tale of Perseverance

Reaching a chess rating of 1000 in blitz was the goal for the year.  In 2024,  I started at a rating of 763. By December, my blitz rating had climbed to 945, but the coveted 1000 still seemed just out of reach as the final month began.

Game 1: thestreets (957)
I played as Black, responding to 1. d4 with 1...d4, entering the Modern Defense. Despite an accuracy of 74.2% and a calculated playing strength of 1150, I lost. It wasn’t the start I was hoping for.

Game 2: Berkan_F (949)
Playing as White, I chose the Jobava London system. The game ended in my favor as my opponent lost on time, though my accuracy was just 49.1% with a playing strength of 250.

Game 3: roozbi
This game counted as a win due to my opponent abandoning after a single move.

Game 4: usually_lose (957)
I had Black and opted for the Caro-Kann Defense. Though I won on time, my accuracy was a low 36.5%, with a playing strength of 150.

Game 5: theqqqq (937)
As White, I aimed for the Jobava London but found myself in the Old Benoni Defense after my opponent’s c-pawn push. I won on time, achieving 84.1% accuracy and playing at a level rated 1600.

Game 6: HaydenPDX (976)
Playing White and sticking with the Jobava London, I suffered a loss. My accuracy was 57.2%, with a playing strength of 400.

Game 7: Tibooowww (951)
With Black, I returned to the Caro-Kann Defense. This time, I won by resignation,  with an accuracy of 89.7% and a playing strength of 1700.

Game 8: L1mdg (968)
As White, I chose the Jobava London again. Despite an accuracy of 56.1% and a playing strength of 350, I secured a win by resignation.

Game 9: GinerMedic (987)
Playing the Caro-Kann as Black, I claimed victory by resignation. My accuracy reached 84.3%, with a playing strength of 1600.

Game 10: Tridentalboi (984)
As White, I returned to the Jobava London and achieved a satisfying checkmate. My accuracy was 63.3%, with a playing strength of 600.

Game 11: Msnabdl (1007)
This was the pinnacle match. Playing Black, I employed the Caro-Kann Defense once more and won by checkmate. My accuracy  88%, with a playing strength of 1600.

 I played 11 blitz games with 9 wins and 2 losses, I finally hit the milestone—reaching a rating of 1000 on Christmas Day.
