The golden rules for beginners

Here the white spreaded his pieces by moving 3.Nc3 and 4.Bc4, so the black must spread his pieces also by moving 3...Nf6 and 4...Bc5.

Here the white moved the pawn to 5.d3 to open the diagonal for the bishop on c1 and the black moved also the pawn to 5...d6 to open the diagonal for the bishop on c8, but the white can also castle before moving pawn 5.d3 and the black also can castle before moving pawn 5...d6, so the two are right.
