British School of Sofia
Have you heard of fool’s mate? That’s the shortest chess game won in just two moves Luckily, none of our students experienced this kind of checkmate situation during their exhibition match against FIDE Woman Grand Master (WGM) Adriana Nikolova.
More than 10 students participated in this amazing opportunity to test their chess skills and strategy. Many of the players stood their ground, making the most of the chance to play against one of the most acclaimed chess players in Bulgaria.
Adriana Nikolova has participated in multiple major chess championships like the European Chess Championship, and the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2016 Chess Olympiads. She’s been ranked among the top 100 women in chess multiple times.
Chess is a part of the extracurricular curriculum at BSS. We believe in the importance of encouraging strategic, logical thinking and few other activities compare to chess when it comes to concentration and improving problem-solving abilities.
