ipod trouble

I dont know if blogs r used for questions or wut ever but I have a question for u smart ppl that read direction pamphlets. can you put pictures from google image or something like that onto a 3G ipod? Ive tried and no luck. it says that the pics cannot be displayed. someone help me please!
