Best defences for black against e4

Hello guys this is my first blog on chess.com. In this blog I will explain to you, some of the best defences you can play as black, if your opponent has played e4.

Sicilian Defence

White starts by playing e4, c5, Nf3(White devlops the knight), d6,d4.

cxd4, nxd4,Nf6(Black has a open diagonal for the c6 bishop). This is also called Najdorf Variation.

French defense

A simple but solid defence for black 

e4, e6, d4, d5. White has two options - 1) To decline the exchange and play e5  2) Accept the exchange by playing exd5. Lets check the variations one by one...

1) e5

Black will play a solid move - c5, Nf3, cxd4, Nxd4, Ne7, Nc3, Ng6 and so on.... 

2) exd5

Black will capture back- exd5, Nf3, Nf6, Bg5,Be7, Bd3, 0-0, 0-0, Bg4 and so on...

Scandinavian Defence

An opening that has to be there in any list of defence against e4

e4, d5, exd5, Qxd5 - the position looks bad for black but it's not really(The magic of this defence).

Nc3, Qa5, d4, Nf6, Nf3, Nc6, Bc4, Bg4, 0-0, 0-0-0 the black castles on queen side to attach the white...
