Alpha zero
I was shocked when today I found out Stockfish was beaten by an unknown chess program!
so today I will talk through this shocking news.
alpha zero was developed by a research company, Deepmind. later it was claimed by Google.
There is another shocking thing about this.
Alpha Zero was only shown the rules of the game then it played against itself (about 40 million times in just 9 hours.
The engine was able to calculate 70 million positions per second!
Therefore beating stockfish in 4 hours.
it was also known as the google supercomputer
In December 2017 Alpha Zero had defeated stockfish in a 100 game match.
A year later Alpha Zero had defeated stockfish in a 1000 game match.
this has made other people create their own versions of Alpha Zero.
That is why it isn't available to the public anymore.
Deepmind, the company that had created Alpha Zero decided to even make it be able to play variants.
It had accomplished to win stockfish with
- 28 wins
- 72 draws
- and 0 loses
