3 Check-The Ultimate Guide
Recently, I have been collecting quite a few milestones in 3 check chess. I know that in my bullet guide, I promised a blitz guide, but I really don't seem like the person who should advise you. My elo may be low, but I do consider my tactics high.
My highest rating on chess.com is my three check rating, which has been thriving. To think I was rated 700 in 3 check at the end of May 2021/start of June 2021 is shocking. As this blog was posted, my 3 check rating is 1137.
My rating climb started by taking part in the 1I0 3 Check public arenas. I started earning medals(2X 2nd Place, 2X third place) and started coming in the top 10 out of 100 players in almost all arenas.
3 check arenas happen every 3 hours here on chess.com, and often I would participate in 2 a day.
I'd played 32 games against titled players to date, and I played another CM in an arena. I was confident and determined to beat CM @Latigre- I was on a winning streak of 10 in that tournament.
And I beat the CM!
The game is below:
So I've been talking about how I have increased my 3 check rating. How can you improve yours?
Well first tip, play the Vant Krujis. There's no fixed opening in 3 check, but as you progress higher in the 3 check ratings, you'll see that the Vant Krujis is very helpful. Knight openings are helpful, as long as you protect the diagonals that the opposition's queen and bishop will attack.
By playing E4 in the below position, you'll see the trap you can fall in to:
Did you see that? The black queen can either trade queens too, to go for the second check, or take the rook or bishop for free.
Tip 2-Beware of knight paths. Knights are crucial weapons in 3 check, and by avoiding them, you'll be able to guard your king.
Tip 3-Take part in the arenas, not the Swiss. I'm not saying that Swiss tournaments are bad, but in Swiss you only get a fixed number of games to showcase your skills in. In arenas, you can go non-stop and expect an opponent to play each time.
Tip 4-Don't allow free checks. This means after one check, don't defend that check so that another check can be given. An example of a free check is below:

I wish you all the best in the time you play 3 check!
