Adios, Live Chess!

If you have checked live chess recently, you would've got a banner like this:

The banner tells us that live chess will be gone by the end of this year(2021).

In this blog, I'll give personal experiences of live chess, and its pros and cons.

Live Chess Interface During Game VS Play->New Game Interface During Game

The first image is of live chess. Did you see how the dots showing the squares pieces can move to are so much bigger in size than play->new game's dots?

This point is going to play->new game!

Live Chess Header VS Play ->New Game Header

This one is actually a tough one. The previous point was an easy one to play->new game, but this one is going to live. I love the UI of the new header of play->new game, but there's a backstory to why I prefer the live chess header. Sometimes, when I am in a tournament, the tournament tab in play->new game closes automatically, and I need to get back to the tournament. I navigate to live chess, -> tournaments, ->in progress and click on the tournament I was playing in, and woohoo! My tournament points are exactly the same, and I need to just click next game!

Point to live chess!

Live Chess Open Challenges VS Play ->New Game Open Challenges

This point is going to play->new game, as it just looks aesthetically better to the eye than live chess. Live chess' circles don't have the nice hole in the middle, and the lines on the graph are way too skinny. Point to play->new game!

Play->New Game won the number of points 2-1, but I'm going to describe some features I like about live chess. 

• The tournaments tab has helped me a lot when I close the tournament tab
• I can open multiple tournament tabs in live chess
• The 'X Is now online' pop-up is helpful
• Live analysis board is nice

Chess.Com Staff have announced that live chess will be gone by the end of 2021!
