Chess.com Beginner Bots-worth it,or not?

With nearly 100 bots, chess.com has cleverly programmed dozens of smart robots, who you can play anytime, anywhere. Today, I'll look at the 'beginner' bots to see if it helps new players. Where bots are rated the same, I will look at one of them.

Martin(250)

Martin(250) was the first bot I tried. You can try many gambits and forks against Martin, although he will block out attempts of the two-move checkmate. Martin shows no capability or development of pieces, allowing you to take queens ,rooks and all other pieces at no cost.

My verdict

Playing Martin can be a good opportunity for novices to understand how the pieces move and how to checkmate. Apart from that, neither does Martin offer a balanced game nor one where you would lose.

Filip(400)

I am rating Filip 3/5,purely because of his audacity. Filip will often play unorthodox moves, and will often gift pieces. I won all the 3 games I played against him but would recommend Filip as a fair bot for beginners.

My verdict

Beginners should play Filip, or any other 400-rated bots. Filip could be classified as an adaptive bot, but he truly will level up with you.

Milica(550)

Milica is not afraid to attempt her newly-found tricks, and likes to put you under check frequently. Her knack of stamping checks gives her the ability to fork pieces. I won against Milica, but I would warn you to watch out.

My verdict

She may be rated 'beginner', but she offers a tough game. Don't try fancy moves against her, for she'll hit back myriads of checks at you. Milica was probably my favourite bot to play.

Aron(700)

Despite Aron being rated more than Milica, Aron is just your usual bot. However, don't take that as an excuse to be calm. Watch out for gambits that bamboozle you. A sacrifice from Aron does not necessarily mean that you are ahead.....

My verdict

Beginners may not win against Aron, but for the slightly more experienced, he offers a good match. Don't expect your newly found defence or attack to ruin Aron's hope.

Santiago(850)

Just today I beat Santiago, on my first try. However, I must admit that his Pandora's box of tricks did fool me. Make sure that you look at the whole board, and don't forget about your pieces. I found that having your rooks in the corner square is not a good idea, though I eventually won.

My verdict

Santiago offers a bit more, than say what Aron does. He'll push you to your limits and squeeze out every opportunity to win.
