the quest to complete the award tap part 1: the books

This is by far the easiest of the 6 categories, which are:

achievements, medals, badges, cheers, books, and passports.

In this blog, I will be focusing on the books.

You get books by playing openings, and there are 33 books you can get, which means you can get them all pretty easily just by playing games.

Which is why this blog isn’t very long.

But I have a hot take: I would love to see all the openings as books.

Chess.com has 998 different variations, gambits, and main lines, and I wish all 998 openings had their own book achievement.

There are a few problems with this, such as how one of the variations is Fool’s Mate.

And to get it, you would either have to sacrifice your own Elo or meet an opponent who falls for Fool’s Mate.

But you could always play unrated matches or play against a friend, so it’s not a huge problem.
