The Biglerville Chess team opened their defense of the Mason Dixon Chess League title last night with an emphatic 5-0 win over Gettysburg.  Led by veterans Mike Lobaugh on board 1, Jake Martin on board 3, and Marty May on board 5, the team also saw the debut of two new members.  Freshman Phineas Saum actually started the rout with a quick win on Board 5.  Senior Dylan Sharrah, getting the nod on board 2, showed great fortitude coming back from an inferior position to win at the very end.

Stephen Demes and Isaiah Thomas also won on the reserve boards with Dalton Brough picking up a draw.

The Chess Thugs take the Christmas break off but return on Jan 7th, travelling to New Oxford to take on the Colonials.
