Chess.com-Two Years
I can't believe it's already time for another anniversary post. And yes, I have been on chess.com for a full two years now. This site has truly come a long way in a relatively short time.
I have to admit, there have been some disappointing moments. Such as when the site was recently down 20 hours and then came back on with the much-talked about live chess 2...which was immediately met with much criticism (sorry, erik). There have been some good changes, and some bad. I've been a premium member, and it was a nice experience. Someday, I might renew my membership and pay back chess.com.
But in the end, chess.com will find a way to pull out of this, as they have done in the past. Live chess 3 is in development already. And though it might take some time (iphone app?), there will be progress made. I'm very happy with the way the staff has handled all of my requests. I think I've made enough of an impact here to satisfy myself.
This site continues to grow. I remember just a year ago when we were celebrating 25,000 members here. Just recently, we hit 800,000. Suddenly, one million members doesn't seem so unlikely. However, what remains to be seen is if growth here is really exponential or merely logistic (yes, i do learn things from school). Though I hope it is the former, not the latter.
But as usual, I digress. I've still managed to maintain many friends and group memberships on this site. Though there has been some cheating, let us hope that it will not become widespread. And though I'm not the best contributor ever, people still read my articles. And for that, I am grateful.
The future of chess.com remains uncertain. Who know what I'll be writing about in a year? Let's hope chess.com will have a successful future as the years go by. Happy birthday and good luck!
