What is the unique trait in every chess player?

Is there any unique trait in every chess player? Is there any invisible nexus between those who play chess? Is there any chemistry that acts among them?

I think it is a question to be answered with utmost care. Some may go for "the longing for win" factors. While others may go  for a "killer instinct" in man.
