Steps-

  • Is there any hanging pieces?
  • Is there any threat to my king or any piece?
  • What is my plan 
  • How can I prevent my opponents plan?
  • Final plan (To prevent opponents plan and make your plan work)? 

Example- 

Step one- Is there any hanging pieces?

Answer:No 

Step two- Is there any threat to my king or any piece?

Answer:Yes, If I promote my pawn Rg8 will lead to checkmate. 

Step three- What is my plan?

Answer: Promote pawn

Step four- How can I prevent my opponents plan?

Answer: take on g6 causing rook takes g6 then I  can promote 

Step five- Final Plan?

Answer take on g6
