Is the future always absurd?

There's a scene from a movie titled "The 7 Faces of Dr. Lao" in Brazil, where a fortune teller has to tell the truth, but the truth sometimes hurts. Imagine if an angel or something like that went back in time to when you were 10 years old and told you all the good and bad things you would achieve or experience. Wouldn't you find that absurd? It's obvious right at the beginning when the woman starts complaining and says, "But that's absurd!" and the fortune teller says, "The future will always be absurd until it becomes the past." What a phrase!
