What's your favorite horror movie?
My favorite is the movie "Sinister" 1. I don't understand the low ratings for such a great film! The film's objective is to scare, to cause moral discomfort, and this is often justified, and everything applies to this film. I even know why the ratings are low: it's due to terrifying/horrible and disturbing scenes that make people, after watching the film, refuse to give it a 10, or at least a 9, for moral reasons. Now, if we apply the same criteria to other classic films, which are not terrifying/scary and/or disturbing, they receive much higher ratings and respect from the public. Human beings are strange! Compared to other horror films, this one is in no way inferior, but I believe the rating factor is more about morality than the merit of the film itself.
Here's a list of my favorite movies in each genre, and if you haven't seen them, I recommend them!
Romantic movie: "Pretty Woman"
Adventure movie: "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"
Fiction: Here I must make an exception and mention two movies, "The Matrix 1999" and "Interstellar," and I would also include "The Time Machine"
Horror movie: "Sinister 1"
Genreless movie: "Eyes Wide Shut"
Philosophy movie: "The Prestige"
Children's movie: "The NeverEnding Story 1"
Chess movie: "Searching for Bobby Fischer"
If you haven't seen them, watch them! They're worth it!
