Hello, today's blog article is going to be the beginning of a long series about sacrifice and initiative. What inspired me to start writing this series is a book called: "sacrifice and initiative in chess", written by Ivan Sokolov.

We're going to start with a very interesting subject, which is ignoring the threat.

Usually, when you have the initiative you don't want to retreat, so if your opponent makes a threat, you should make a bigger one, so you are not forced to retreat!

The game we're featuring is a game played between the writer of the book, Ivan Sokolov and Kiril Georgiev:

If you want to see a #2 next week, then follow me! You should also expect an article series about the Evans gambit coming! If you want me to write anything else, just mention it in the comment section down below!
