AI Magnus or Cold-Hearted
Welcome to my 6th blog
Hope you enjoy this game between 2 masters, Magnus Carlsen and Nijat Abasov. Magnus being black, and Magnus won this game.
Ok so this is a very high level game so I might not understand this to the best of my ability. I will split this up into minimum 3 paragraphs, opening, middle game and endgame.
Opening
Nijat from the very start attacks the centre into his possession. Magnus on the other hand fianchetto's his bishop and attacks the already defended pawn on d4. They develop their knights and magnus develops his bishop. Nijat does the same and Magnus plays a strange move of moving the queen to support his bishop I think. White tries to remove the strong knight c5 and trades knights, however this makes Magnus have a strong hold for the bishop. White attacks the black bishop and Carlsen retreats and c5 responding to whites dubious move of Be3, possibly due to it restricting the movement of the e pawn for now. Magnus uses his pawns to attack and eventually trade rooks. This loses him a pawn, however this is no big deal as he can regain it in the future. Magnus suggests a queen trade and goes for it. Then tactically black takes the knight in order to take back the pawn and weaken white's position. White pushes his pawn twice gaining tempo on the knight, but Magnus just moves it to a better position. Nijat goes for an attack and black trades. This may be the end of the opening or it already ended a few moves ago.
Middle Game
Nijat goes for an attack on the black king and simply trades pawns with Magnus and tries to trade for the black knight, however black simply moves the rook pinning the bishop to the king. Nijat moves the only other move that works and castles. Magnus takes yet another pawn, leaving his knight to hang while attacking the rook. White attacks and Magnus moves his knight to a safer square. And leaves his bishop to hang to regain Nijat's bishop. This may be the endgame now or in a couple of moves.
Endgame
Nijat blocks the check with his bishop and black takes a second pawn making him in a huge lead, which eventually gave him this win. White tries to move the knight and Magnus plays some sneaky moves to try and get a very improved position forcing Nijat to lose on time or resign. Nijat gets back a pawn, however black forks and gets another pawn back. White attacks the pawn going for promotion and Magnus takes advantage of this and takes control of that file with a check. White tries to counter-attack, but fails and black takes full possession of the board and gets to more pawns putting him in the lead and foremost to win.
