You can do both with a tactic called The windmill. Let me show you the sheer power of the windmill, and how to use it!

This game is a classic example of using the windmill. Black just has to sit and watch as one by one his pieces on the 7th rank come off the board.

What an amazing tactic, right? 

The key is to force your opponent to make moves while you take all their pieces, and then finish your goal, either just getting material or winning the game.
