Letβs talk about cheaters & The toxic side of chess
Gosh, the chess world has been upside down since Niemman's scandal.β£
β£
I am not sure about if Niemman cheated or not, but I have a reflection on cheaters.β£
β£
ππ‘ππππ’π§π π’π¬ πππ. β£
β£
No matter what the reason is. β£
β£
There are two types of cheaters. Those who cheat for a reason like money or elo. Their motivation is understandable yet terrible, and they should get banned.β£
β£
β£
But it is the other group that worries me. Those who cheat online chess. Not because they want money or elo, but because they want to fill a void.β£
β£
Some are just trolls, but others find in cheating a way to escape reality. They want to feel validated. β£
β£
They cheat because they don't know other ways to have results.β£
β£
Let's discuss where this seeking for validation comes from.β£
β£
There's a toxic side to the chess community formed by:β£
β£
- Angry people who insult you when you beat themβ£
- Cheatersβ£
- People that make sandbaggingβ£
- Trollsβ£
- And those who don't resign when losing just get disconnected.β£
β£
And you know? It's virtually impossible to fix this. Most people are frustrated, sad and angry. So they will keep acting like this forever.β£
β£
This is a message for you if you love chess but are discouraged by your results.β£
β£
(I am not saying that you are a cheater or you are toxic)β£
β£
Being bad at something you love brings resentment because you know you can do better. The problem is that you don't know how to! And it's ok because that's something you can fix.β£
β£
If you want to know how to get stronger, stay tuned because I am about to upload a webinar where I will show you the five shifts secrets you must make to change your chess forever.β£
β£
And if you are a cheater, come on, you are better than that. I promise you. β£
β£
You can algo get good at the game. But you have to change your behavior.β£
β£
I hope this helps.β£
β£
See you on the winning side.β£
