Standings after Round 6 | Division 1

This report includes several critical moments and surprising tactical moves of key games before presenting the standings of Divisions 2 and 3.

Critical Moments

Despite being ahead in material, White's king lacked safety and fell prey to Black's cute tactic. Check this out:

An unbelievable swindle occurred in the game between Mehendi Sil and A.N.S.M. Tamiuddin. White had just two pieces for a queen, but the knight was able to create havoc.

Modern theory is filled with g2-g4 or g7-g5 ideas, and the use of the g-pawn in the Italian Game is one of the trendiest ideas today. This game between Abhinandan and Soumalya turned messy quite early. There are two key lessons in the game: Don't hang your pieces, and don't give a check just because you can.

Sailesh R of Jeppiaar University pulled off an upset by defeating IM Harikrishnan A.Ra of the SRM-A team. White conducted the game very smoothly, and the play was devoid of any errors.

IM Srihari L R played a textbook example of how to use a double-bishop advantage.

The shortest game of the two rounds featured a piece blunder. Can you spot the move that forced resignation?
