The Great Wall of Grasshopper
Introduction
Hi! We’ll be going back to the Towers and stabilizers from Part 4, and how to make a chain! The stabilizers are also going to be towers here. This pattern is very rare in Custom Chess with a promotion to a Grasshopper, but I hope you can do it!
Protecting and Attacking
This is a very strange protective pattern; each tower will be hopped over. Here it is:The first Grasshopper hops over the second and protects the third. The second Grasshopper hops over the third and protects the fourth. The third Grasshopper hops over the second and protects the first, and hops over the fourth and protects the fifth. The fourth Grasshopper hops over the third and protects the second, and hops over the fifth and protects the sixth. The fifth Grasshopper hops over the fourth and protects the third, and hops over the sixth and protects the seventh. The sixth Grasshopper hops over the fifth and protects the fourth, and hops over the seventh and protects the eighth. The seventh Grasshopper hops over the sixth and protects the fifth. The eighth Grasshopper hops over the seventh and protects the sixth. The edge and next-to-an-edge-Grasshopper Grasshoppers are protected once, while the four central Grasshoppers are protected twice. This is like a Grasshopper a wall, which will stand after any attack. If your opponent has the Grasshopper wall (like I said, this is very rare because pawns usually get captured in games) then aim for the edge with your pawns, because the edges and near-edges of the wall are weakest. Actually, this is like two walls of Grasshoppers that interlock, because the other is needed for one to hop over and protect the next brick of the wall.
Goodbye
See you next time in Grasshopper Antics, Part 8!
