#100DaysofChess - Day 7

Wow. I started #100DaysofChess a week ago today. I just finished day 7 and I feel like I am making great strides in getting my tactical vision and calculation back on track.

I talk about it in the video but I am creating this mainly for myself as a collection of how I continued to improve over the years. Secondly, I am creating this because for adults it is hard to find how others go about improving and so I am trying to create something that I didn't have when I was coming up through 1200-1700 and that is how someone around my level thinks and studies.

It is one thing for a titled player to tell you to spend 30 minutes a day solving tactics. It is another to see someone around your level actually doing that work. With that said, I hope that you can learn from me on the good things and avoid doing my bad habits before they become your bad habits.

If you are doing your own #100DaysofChess let me know how it is going! You don't need to do tactics you just need to do something related to chess to improve every single day. If you can't commit to 30 minutes then commit to 15 minutes each day.

I'll see you over the chessboard soon!

My name is David Blackwelder. I started playing tournament chess at the age of 22. I have worked my way from the 1200s to a peak rating of 1844 (December 2021). Those are my United States Chess Federation (USCF) ratings. My short-term goal is to reach a rating of 2000 which will earn me the Expert title. My long-term goal is to get the National Master (NM) title at a rating of 2200. As an adult they say it is near impossible, well I don't believe that. Therefore I am creating blogs and videos to help other adult players improve their chess. Thanks for following me!
