Playing bullet is one of the hardest things to do, but in this blog I will be giving tips of how to play bullet. I will be going over the opening, how to use your time, and some more tricks to help you improve!
HOW TO PLAY IN THE OPENING:
Playing in the opening is one of the hardest things to do. It might be hard because you might need to play very fast to save time for the middlegame and endgame. I will give some openings that might work good for you.
1. Fianchetto your bishops(king’s Indian style)
This type of opening is very good for bullet. This opening allows you to premove because the moves are much much simpler to play than a normal opening. However, there is 2 things you need to look out for when you are playing this opening.
2. H-pawn attack(against fianchetto style)
This is a very good counter against the fianchetto style. I play this fianchetto style but I always have trouble against this attack on the kingside. The point of this h-pawn push is that we are trying to open up the rook’s scope. Also, it is easy to make moves when you play this.
TIPS(I will give tips in 1+0):
Try to finish the opening with you having spend less than 10 seconds✅
Try not to think for more than 3 seconds✅
When you are in time trouble, play moves quickly even if they are not the best✅
Always play practically✅
When converting, try to always do the simplest way(does not matter if it is slower)✅
Always try to be tricky✅
When your opponent is premoving over 10 moves in a row, try to catch attack something✅
TRAPS:
There are lots of traps in bullet you can use, but I will give you one of the most common traps.
1. The bishop gambit
This trap is one of the funniest traps in bullet. lol!
This works very good when your opponent is premoving a lot. This is one of the most common traps that happen in 1+0 game. Fun fact: I actually pulled of this trap in a rapid game! It was on lichess 10+0 and he was premoving so I decided to take the gamble and it worked out!
2. The rook endgame
This is one trap that happens in bullet games that are rook endings where both sides are in time trouble.
This works well especially when your opponent is just shuffling their king. Fun fact: I think this trap happened in a match between Levy(gotham) and Nemo!
I hope these tips will help you gain elo when playing bullet!
