Tactics Training Day 2 | Solving Puzzles

This is my second day of this improvement plan and things are already veering off in another direction. When I planned this, somehow I forgot all about all those other things we do in life. I guess that's what chess does to us.

Today I went on a trip with my family to a nice park in Maryland and then visited a town nearby called Havre de Grace. I got a lot of pictures of animals and the swamp, but I don't have much time today to write this so I'll upload some of those pictures to a future post, probably tomorrow. Point is, we were out for most of the day and I didn't have time to do my training earlier. So I have to do it now, which is a bit inconvenient because we're about to eat dinner.

I'll have to think more next time I start something.

So, change of plans. Instead of doing Survival Puzzle Rush five times and recording my scores (and I'll average them later), I'm going to take a break from that for one day and hopefully I can continue that tomorrow and for the rest of the week as planned.

I don't have time for much today, but I really need to do some training. The quickest that I can do that will actually help me improve is doing some puzzles, which I planned for next week, but I'll do them today and next week too. No problem with more puzzles.

To keep track of my progress, I'll be doing rated puzzles. My starting puzzles rating is 2488, from when I randomly did puzzles when I felt like it, and did them very fast without much thought. Now, even though I don't have much time, I'll take my time and do less, trying to get as many correct as possible, because that's how you want to play in a real game.

My goal for now will be 3000 puzzles rating.

With that, let's see how I did.

PUZZLES ATTEMPTED: 20

PUZZLES FAILED: 10

PUZZLES SOLVED: 10

PASS RATE: 50%

STARTING PUZZLES RATING: 2488

END PUZZLES RATING: 2564

RATING +/- TODAY: +76

Not bad, considering that almost of the puzzles' ratings were between 2000 and 2500. The reason I got +76 points today with a pass rate of only 50% is because the ones I solved were solved faster and were rated higher.

Well, my second day of tactics training is complete. Not exactly as I expected, but still, it's good. Don't forget to check out Excheqquer's blog where he's chronicling his experiences with the chess.com study plan! https://www.chess.com/blog/search?keyword=Excheqquer

Thanks for reading! We'll see how I do, and if this plan really helps...
