Time for 10|0. Playing Again!

I forgot I would be out of town yesterday. And I didn't have time to do what was planned and write my blog, so I'm doing what was planned for yesterday today. Today, after 9 days of tactics training, it is time to get back to playing 10|0.

I don't have a good feeling about this, but that's probably just because I'm a natural pessimist.

It probably wasn't a good idea to study just tactics for more than a week and not work on openings, middlegames, endgames, strategy and the like. Just realized that. Hopefully I'll still play well today.

Because of that, I'll be cutting my tactics training off early and switching to the chess.com study plan! Hooray. Well, it was probably getting boring for you to read about my Puzzles ratings for so long.

I also haven't posted about anything else while I was doing my tactics training. So to make up for that, in the next few weeks I'll be posting like normal before my training. I've got a few ideas. I'll be posting every few days about different topics, and at the end of the week (or when I have time...) updates on my study plan training will be posted.

On more problem to announce. School. It always seems to get in the way of things, doesn't it? my school year will be starting in 15 days from the time of this writing, and you can see already how that's going to be a problem. My life will be stuffed to the brim. After-school soccer practice and matches. Chess lessons. HOMEWORK. Tennis tournaments. Chess tournaments. HOMEWORK. Studying. Seeing friends. HOMEWORK. And, of course, sleeping. Which I'll probably have to reduce. I won't be able to sleep in until 10 anymore once school starts 😭.

Where am I going to fit in writing my blog?

I'll have little time anyway to actually play too.

There's so much I want to do. I want to write this blog, study chess, play chess, and do all of the other things I mentioned above (excluding homework and studying), but how am I going to fit all of that.

Who knows.

Seems like I'm going to wing it. Maybe I'll stack up a lot of posts and post them once or twice a week, but that might not work because it'll take up a lot of time. As I said, we'll see.

Anyway, let's get back to our focus today. It's time to play. Time to click that orange play button and see what happens. I won't analyze these, since I don't have hours to spend, but I'll comment on them after.

I played way, way too fast. Like it was a blitz game. I have to remember that it's not.

No idea why he resigned, but I'm not complaining about the 11 points I got.

That was one of most tense games I've ever played. I was worried about a back rank mate on the c-file but since I had the two rooks back there he couldn't make anything happen so I stopped worrying and my attack was crushing with the advanced pawns and queen.

I think that's enough for today. My heart is actually beating faster than normal after that last game. Got to remember that it's 10|0 and not blitz next time I play, which will probably be very soon. My rating went up from 1974 to 1985. Considering I haven't played recently, that's good. I'm going to play more and try to lift my rating back above 2000. It shouldn't be that hard, but the difficult part comes when trying to keep my head above 2000.

Ok. Time to cool down with some speed chess! I'll insert some highlights like I did yesterday. Be warned: some of these are wild games with tons of blunders and mistakes. The only reason I put them here is because of one good part of the game, like an interesting mating combination, material winning combination, well played endgame, and so forth. r simply for entertainment value.

Trying out some different openings, so don't be surprised if anything happens quickly.

Remember this sort of desperado idea, it'll come in handy in many situations.

I had to hang my queen eventually.

Whoo. Double Botez Gambit. My opponent had so many chances to win...

This is what happens in bullet.

Thanks for reading! We'll see what the future holds, and until then let's keep going!

Hope you enjoyed this, and I'll see you next time.
