Need a Break?

Recently, I posted a blog titled Cure Chess Laziness where I talked about different ways to maintain your chess skills during times of laziness. However, sometimes, as with anything, you need to take a break from the game to regain motivation to study. Many people, including me, try their dearest to maintain their streak for fear of losing their skills. However, as I stated in my previous blog, you can take a break for about a month. (Please note that this is based on my experience. This may vary depending on factors such as how long you have been playing, how much you have been playing, and age - it seems as though chess ability deteriorates as we age... cry).

However, this raises the question. How should I take a break without losing my skill? Well, the original reason that you are taking a break is to avoid burnout. One of the most important things is to take a break. Stay off of your chess.com account until the break is over. If you find yourself unable to resist the urge to play chess, then I suggest that you go to my other blog, Cure Chess Lazinessand try one of the strategies that I listed there. In other words, commit. Either commit to taking a break or don't take one.

I've said this before, and I will say it again. Everyone is different, so you might have to find slightly different ways to take a break. Use your break to relax, especially if you are a competitive player who spends a lot of time studying openings, tactics, and how to become the world chess champion. If you are someone who plays casually, then enjoy some time away from the mental workout that is chess.

I hope you guys found this helpful. Please consider joining my club. We have a great community over there, and you would make a great addition. Thanks for reading and I'll catch you in the next one.
