To Draw or not to draw?
In one of my recent games I've reached the following rooks and pawns ending with white:
Which theoretically is a draw but practically is not so easy to hold, especially since we were both down one minute on clock with a five seconds increment.
At some point I've even thought the position repeated three times and ask for draw which of course my oponent rejected — there is no reason for black to accept a draw until the position really repeats or the pawns are liquidated. Using Lomonosov tablebase I've analyzed the game, annotating each unique move which draws or wins with a "!" and each move which looses the chances to draw or win with a "?".
I think this analysis is quite useful for understanding this kind of endgame. Do you?
