Mind and Chess: How My Mental State Affects My Game
I’ve been playing chess close to every day for 13 years. Over time, I’ve noticed how deeply my mental state influences my game. On days when I feel good, focused, and balanced, I can play games like the one you see bellow. My rating is usually around 1600, but when everything aligns, I can perform at a much higher level. this game I faced Monarch 1.0, a bot rated around 1750, and I managed to win with an accuracy of 89.7% and 4 brilliant moves.
But it's not always like this. When my mental health is off, my chess suffers too. On bad days, my rating drops to around 1350, and my moves become sloppy. It’s like I lose the clear thinking and sharp focus that I need to play well.
Today, before this game, I climbed to the middle of a hill to my favorite place in the woods, i did this twice today, till now.....then went for a swim, the tempreture outside was around 30C and the water-tempreture was 24,4C so it was nice and it made me feel balanced...... and-the physical activity and relaxation helped clear my mind and prepare me for good chess-games.

It reminded me that chess isn’t just about cognition and strategy; it’s also about mental well-being. If your mind is in the right place, you can achieve great things on the board. Taking care of your mental health is as important as practicing your openings and tactics.

Positive Effects of Playing PES10 on my Mind
Playing PES10 (Pro Evolution Soccer 2010) have also some positive effects on my mental well-being:
-
Nostalgia and Memories: The game brings me back happy memories from my childhood and youth, especially from my football days. This nostalgia lifts my mood and provides comfort during stressful times---kinda.
-
Mental Relaxation: PES10 helps me unwind by distracting me from daily worries. It immerses me in a familiar and enjoyable environment, giving my mind a break.
-
Boosting Confidence: Achieving success in the game boosts my confidence, which improves my overall well-being and chess-skills---kind of.....
Overall, playing PES10 is also a positive, therapeutic experience, helping me relax, recall good memories, and strengthen my emotions.
