Bobby Fischer was one of the greatest chess players of all time. He was born on March 9, 1943, in Chicago, USA, and became famous for his incredible chess skills at a very young age.

Early Life and Chess Beginnings

  • Fischer learned chess at age 6: He started playing chess after his sister bought a chess set. He quickly became obsessed with the game and spent hours studying it.
  • Child prodigy: By age 13, Fischer won the U.S. Junior Chess Championship and became the youngest player to win the U.S. Championship at age 14. He showed extraordinary talent and was beating experienced players even as a teenager.

Fischer's Rise to the Top

  • Aggressive and creative style: Fischer had a very aggressive, attacking style, and he was known for being able to calculate deeply and see many moves ahead.
  • World Championship match: In 1972, Fischer played against Boris Spassky, a Soviet chess grandmaster, in a famous match for the World Chess Championship. This match was called the "Match of the Century" because it was not just about chess but also about the Cold War rivalry between the USA and the Soviet Union. Fischer won the match and became the first American to become World Chess Champion.

Fischer's Personality and Struggles

  • Intense personality: Fischer was known for being very serious about chess and highly competitive. He was also known for being demanding, often making specific requests about the conditions of his matches, like the type of lighting or seating.
  • Leaving chess: After winning the World Championship, Fischer started to distance himself from the chess world. He refused to defend his title in 1975 because he disagreed with the rules, so he lost his title without playing a single game.

Later Life

  • Reclusive: Fischer disappeared from the public eye for many years and lived a very private life. He resurfaced briefly in 1992 to play a rematch against Spassky, which he won, but after that, he became even more isolated.
  • Controversial views: In his later years, Fischer made several public comments that were controversial and offensive, which hurt his reputation.

Legacy

  • Chess genius: Despite his personal struggles, Fischer is remembered as a chess genius who changed the game forever. His influence on chess is still felt today, and many of his games are studied by players around the world. Fischer also helped popularize chess in the U.S. and inspired a generation of chess players.

Bobby Fischer passed away on January 17, 2008, in Iceland, but his name remains legendary in the world of chess.

In the game you see below I played against an engine whisch was useing an opening-book_about Bobbys openings.....I created this "book" via the games in the Database which a provided by the FritzGUI.....(its easy to create an opening-book....btw.......). Bobby Fischer is one of my favorite players so therefor the game you see below is NN-with_fischerBook vs myself kind of at least....... for me Fischer was NOT the best player of all time, for me the best player of all time is Gary Kasparov (followed by Fischer and Carlsen) ..... unfortunatly those players had never the chance to play it out against each other on there peak.......
