Blitz - Anything is Possible
I started playing chess again a couple of months back because my youngest son liked chess a lot. Since I don't really have much time playing chess, I started playing blitz game last month. Today, I played the most thrilling blitz game ever. My blitz rating in chess.com is only 455, so don't expect a very high quality game, but it is definitely my most exciting game to date.
Let's go through the game. It's 3 minutes blitz with 2 seconds increment for each player. I am playing white. The game started well for me and after black castled on move #13, I lined up my queen on d1 on my 14th moved and prepared to mate black king.

As long as black king area not affected and I didnt' miss anything, I was planning to captured pawn at h7 and check. King will be forced to move to h8. I will then moved my bishop back to g6 and my rook on h file will check the king and forced the king to move back to g8. I will sacrifice my rook to h8 and got the king back to h8. Then my queen would slide over to h5 and check. King only move was back to g8 and my queen will dance forward (supported by my faithful bishop) to h7 to checkmate the king. Beautiful game!!!
I waited for for less than a second and black moved nc5 to threatened my bishop and my plan was set. Checkmate within my sight. Bishop to swing to h7 and back to g6. The black king was trapped and moved back to g8. I slided my queen to h5 check, but the king was not there??? I totally forgot to draw the king back out with my h file rook!!! Just like that, the beautiful game turn into horror.
I was stunned for 10 seconds or so and thought. This game is still winnable. I didn't really lose anything yet. I was down a pair of bishops and a knight, but I took his dark squared bishop, a knight and two pawns. I was still attacking, I could still win this. Game ON.
I was still playing well (at least I thought I was). I took his rook, few more pawns until my next big blunder. On move 29, I moved my amazing queen to g5 to check the king only to realize his knight was waiting on e4.

That move alone move the analysis bar from white 9.6 yo -8.1. Horror!!! The knight promptly executed my queen and open the line from black queen directly to my king. I was checked. My knight on f7 and rook on d8 were totally in trouble and I could only think of offering my rook for black queen.
After all the slaughter, I was left with just king and 7 pawns and 30 seconds on the clock!!! Even chess.com analysis doomed me to -11. But I am left with all the simple moves!!! Keep the king near the pawns and guide them to promotion and somehow make a come back ???
So I travelled with the king and pawns. With the time ticking down black started to blundered his pieces one after another. After I took black knight on g6 on move 57, I saw the path to promotion.

His response was swift and less than one second but it felt like forever. pawn b5!!! I hurried my pawn to f7. After running down his clock, in desperation he moved his bishop to e7 but that won't stop my queen from her resurrection.
Both of us had less than 20 seconds left on our clock and he somehow offered his bishop to my king and I was ready to end the game. I carefully moved my pieces to ensure that this didn't end with stalemate. After all the pawns was gone, the black king fell on my 81st moved and it is a beautiful game again for me.

Below are the PGN of my analysis including my failed checkmate and the link to the game itself. I hope everyone enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy sharing it. #BeautifulGame
