Because most of the local tournaments were held on campus, there was a break in the summer (also provided Robert some much deserved time off).  This was the first rated event held at the Raleigh Chess Club.  Because this was on a Friday night, the time control needed to be short.  The USCF had just released "quick" ratings (G15-G30) and this tournament was set up to be that.  I don't remember if it was announced to be dual rated as a G/30, but for some reason, I don't have scoresheets for this one.  It's a real shame too, because this marked my first rated win against a player over 1800 and my first rated game against a player rated over 2000 (2157 in this case).
