PRO League Week 3 Highlights
In this week's PRO League Week 3 highlights, I focus on the question: who was "Player of the Week?"
Here's the video:
Here are the candidates I discussed:
GM Evgeny Shaposhnikov whose 3.5/4 and perfect play carried the Gorky Stormbringers to an 8.5-7.5 victory over the Riga Magicians, and maintained their perfect league record;
GM Ruifeng Li (15 yrs old!) whose 4/4 from board 2 and unbelievable defensive resilience and calculation carried the Dallas Destiny to an 8.5-7.5 victory over the Seattle Sluggers;
GM Anton Kovalyov whose draws against super-GM Mamedyarov and GM Naroditsky along with 2 wins led the Rio Grande Ospreys to an upset of the undefeated San Jose Hackers.
Note my sample is highly biased in favor of the Eastern and Pacific Divisions, which I had watched more closely on Wednesday. Who would you pick? What were the best performances in the Central and Atlantic Divisions? Li Chao or Ponsa in the Atlantic Division?
