                                                    Hikaru Nakamura Early Life

Hikaru is an American GM and currently second in the world ranking. He was born on the 9th of December 1987 in Hirakata, Japan. Hikaru started his chess career at 7 years old, but he was always dragged along to chess tournaments because of his brother, and his brother was one of the best juniors in the Usa at the time he was untouchable. Hikaru moved to the Usa at the age of 2 then a year later his parents got divorced, then his mother married a Chess player called FM Sunil Weeramantry, because he was coaching Hikaru's brother (Asuka). Then led him to win the national kindergarten championship. Then they developed a relationship then eventually got married.

Rising Star        

At the age 10 Hikaru become the youngest player to beat an IM when he defeated Jay Robin at the Marshell chess club. Also, Hikaru at 10 set a record of being the youngest to achieve the title of a chess master from the us, breaking the previous record set by Vinay Bhat. Hikaru's record stood till 2008 when Nicholas Nip broke the record at the age of 9. In 1999, Hikaru on an award called the Laura Aspis Prize, yearly given to the highest rated USCF player under the age of 13. Also, Hikaru in 2003 at 15 year and 79 days he became the youngest American to become a Grandmaster at the time.

Throughout Hikaru's career he has had a lot of accomplishments. He has won the US Championships 5 time in (2005, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2019) and has represented the USA in numerous chess Olympiads, contributing to team successes.
