That Time I Played A Botez Gambit in the Daily Chess Championships

If you remember from my previous blog entry (https://www.chess.com/blog/esrosenberg/annotated-game-from-the-daily-chess-championship-round-1) I opened that game with 1. Nf3. I also mentioned that I feel compelled to mix things up in the opening so I don't become complacent.

That leads me to the first interesting point of this game. I opened with 1. d4.

The first point is most certainly not the most interesting. That honor goes to the fact that I just flat out hung my queen. And that I was completely oblivious to it until the game concluded, I triggered Game Review, and noticed a cavernous drop in the evaluation, when I believed that my game had been almost obnoxiously error free.

Not so.
